The Big One (Hike, That Is!)

As promised, here are the pictures from last week's hike! Travis and the three oldest boys hiked to the top of the mountain behind our house. It was about a 5-6 mile hike one way, straight up the mountain. They had a great time, but all came back pretty tired. They had to carry all their equipment and provisions up the mountain with them. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking! :

1.Here is the abandoned fire tower, the top of North Mountain. This was the destination. The kids were shining flashlights off the tower, and from behind our house it looked like a huge campfire!


2.Travis and the boys got a rabbit and roasted it on a fire: 3.Happy campers hit the "sack":

4.The view from the top(the picture doesn't do it justice, as on a clear day you can see for about a hundred miles out into the valley): 5.Despite the cozy fire, the campers were pretty cold!!!
